Everybody is Moving

With William and Ashley moving out and getting new places. Cole’s really been pushing for a new room of his own. Bubba and I have been working on these two rooms for a few days now, and after reading our dear friend Erins most recent post about painting her house I thought I might post an update.

On Monday we got started by removing the paneling and hanging new Sheetrock. Then mudding, sanding (I’ve got a guy), and paint. We also pulled up the carpet which has been in this room since before we bought the house. So it was pretty scanky. And were happily surprised to find the oak flooring underneath still in good shape. So this week, we are going to re-finish the floor, add trim and update all the switches and receptacles. Then Cole and Dump Truck (his fish) can move in.

  1. Whoa, refinishing floors?! Are you sanding them down to naked wood or do they just need a good cleaning and a coat or two of something? I can’t imagine how tough it must be to sand floors while you’re living in the house. We did ours before we moved in and I’ve never seen dust like it. But I know people do it all the time…anywho, Cole is a lucky little man. He must be excited. Will baby take his old room?
PS — thanks for the shout out 🙂

  3. The floor is in really good shape. So I’m going to rent a sander and just scuff the finish and re-apply polyurethane. The dust will be an issues, but I think I’m going to mask off the door to the hallway, and use the outside window as an entrance.

Cole is super pumped about his new room. He’d be sleeping on the floor in there right now if I let him .
