Fist Full of Quarters

Last night the Netflix fairy dropped off a little ball of joy at the KU home. A great movie called the King of Kong, Fist Full of Quarters. I’m a bit of a gamer, nothing too hardcore but I  rock the 360 now and then, this film shows the polar opposite end of gaming. Competitive Classic Arcade games, I’m not going to write a review of this film, there is already a ton of great stuff online. A few thing about this film struck me and Jo, and had up talking about gaming late into the evening. This film is all about the a guy named Billy Mitchell, a complete tool, that held the Donkey Kong high score since the mid 80’s. And a guy named Steve Wiebe , who lost his job at Boeing and became a stay at home dad, he wanted to do something with his life so he decided become the best Donkey Kong player in the world. Long story short, Billy is a tool and Steve is a bit timid. The best part is this movie ends just as you want it to, but leaves you on the edge of your seat. I would total suggest this movie to everyone, even non gamers. I think I really can relate to Steve, after we had finished the moive I told Jo that I would love to buy Steve a beer for having to put up with all the BS he had gone through. So Steve if you read this (I know he won’t)…if your in Portland drop me a line at mo at jomoandco dot com, and I will buy you that beer.

Clips after the break.

Sorry about the auto play;

Great clip of Steve Wiebe, the good guy playing his kids drums.

A clip of Billy doing what he does best, being tool.
