While it looks like Jo might be underway. I thought it a good time to show some pics of Co’s newly finished room. Just in time.
Jo and Mo are both dilated. Jo is 1 cm (location needs no description) and Mo’s eye is dilated due to his last surgery. Mo is doing okay after his surgery on Monday. He is in pain and his eye is super red, but he is okay…unfortunately he is used to this whole scene. The other dilation is very new to us. The doctor said it can be any time that Co comes…from a day to weeks. Jo needs to go from 1 cm to 10 cm. We will have to wait to find out how long it will take. Jo and Mo are both convinced that Co will be early…Jo wanted him to be on-time or late, but now she is good with whatever Co’s plans are…we just want to meet him!
As of this very second, Cole is due in a little over three weeks, and we are not ready. Now everyone tells us that we will never be ready, but I mean…we are really not ready. This is how Jo and Mo roll…we are the biggest procrastinators in the world. We are good at deadlines and being on top of things in our professional lives, but in our personal lives we just can’t get it together. We have a lot of the “stuff” for Cole and we have received a ton of items for Cole from friends and family (including church family). However, we don’t have the nursery together, primarily because we still have sheetrock work to do in the kitchen that Mo can’t do because he just had surgery. I didn’t want to set up a cute and clean little nursery that will be covered in this weird toxic dust. See we always have a reason why something can’t happen…it is usually legitimate. But it is our own fault that we don’t start stuff sooner. Right now we are trying to figure out finances and life to see if Cole will go to childcare or if we can figure out another option. Perhaps this is something we should have worked on before Cole was on his way! Oh well, I believe it will all work out…I can’t wait to see what Cole is like…he will probably be some deadline loving, overachiever, he will get all his work done way ahead of schedule so he won’t be like his parents. We will try to finish the nursery this weekend and hopefully have the appearance of getting our acts together. We will keep you informed.
Here is a short video of today’s baby shower for co. I have been trying to upload it for the last three hours. I’ve tried different plugins, different sites that would embed it for me. And the only thing that worked in the end was dot mac. So please forgive me for not having fancy video, all over this post. I kind of look at this as a start.
Much thanks to everyone at FCC for putting on such a great shower, and to Shirley, without her both co and the video would not possible.
Update: Here is a low res copy on youtube, if clicking through is too hard.
It feels like we have hit a milestone this evening, we have installed all of the new cabinets (not pictured above). We had a birthing class all day today so the progress on the kitchen has been minimal. However small the progress has been its progress none the less. And it feels really good to be able to have the hanging of the cabinets behind us. Next up, I will be installing the sub-straight for the counter top, sink and dishwasher. I have about 24 hours to get all that done before I go back under the knife. I think for this surgery I’m going to be posting my updates to jomoandco. This site is very new, and jo and I have not fully decided how we are going to use it. There a lot of things changing in our lives, it seems like even our relationships with time is changing (I think its speeding up or something). Needless to say, I think this site is going to be an attempt to consolidate our energy, at least when it comes to the recording of or lives. Well at least we will give it a shot.
Pregnant women should not be allowed to watch the following: “Supernanny” and any TLC show… especially “Bringing Home Baby” and any of the medical abnormality shows. They seriously stress me out. With “Supernanny” I am afraid of what kind of child that we will produce. Will we need someone to come into our home and tell us how we are screwing up because we have a wild banshee child? “Bringing Home Baby” is the freakiest. It shows parents the first 36 hours of the baby’s life. Most people have a meltdown, because they don’t know how to take care of a newborn. That will be us! My mind races between how to give our baby a bath to how do we raise a socially responsible man? I can’t really think about it yet…we have to finish the kitchen (well, poor mo does), we need to fix up the nursery, and basically we need to get our life in order. I just pray Cole doesn’t come early. We want to meet him so bad, but we need just a little more time.
We have come a long way in a week. Living out of the one of our bedrooms. There has not been much sleep for me, I’ve left that up to jo and co. We got all the cabinets on the east wall installed along with the installation of the frig, microwave (w00t) and stove. Prop’s to pop, two weeks in a row, there is only one word to describe that man, HARDCORE. To Bean’s for keeping it real and rocking and rolling all weekend. And to Jil doing that painting oh so well. Only thing left is everything.
