I (Jo that is) have not posted to our blog in 3 months…almost 4. Once my sister moved in our life has been in a whirlwind. Here are the highlights from the last few months:
- My sister moved in.
- We put our house on the market.
- My mom put her house on the market.
- My mom’s house sold in 15 days.
- Our house sold in 45 days. (There was a lot of staging and work that went into our 45 days…thanks to my husband).
- We found a new house in SW. We put an offer on it and got it! It is Raleigh Hills and it is giant and fabulous.
- My mom did phone interviews for a job here.
- Me and MKU raised two kids…tough times.
- My sister started school here and turned 16 years old.
- Me and MKU worked and tried to keep it all together.
- MKU and his brother drove to move my mom across country with my mom’s sister (my Aunt).
- My mom and her plethora of animals moved into our tiny house with my sister, Co, Mo, and me…and our animals.
- We are finalizing everything to close on our current house and our new house on the 10th of November.
- We continue to try to keep it all together.
Needless to say, it has been nuts here. BUT below are some pictures of our darling boy from the summer. There are a ton of cute naked photos from the summer (he was mainly naked the entire summer), but we want to respect his privacy…for now.
I am going to get back on track with documenting our family…I am just going to get back on track period.
Co had his 1st birthday party today and it was awesome. His party was at Columbia Cottage in North Portland and it was perfect. I (Jo) planned for months and crafted for weeks (and shopped at Costco for hours), but it was all worth it. A big thank you to Mo for his behind the scenes work, to my mom and sister for fyling up here and doing a lot of work to make this day so great, and all the family who made the trek to give their birthday wishes. Thank you to Tom, the musician. Oh and last but not least, and all of Co’s community who loves and supports him. I am going to write about the party and post pictures every day until Co’s “real” birthday on Thursday. We hope you enjoy. Thanks again for loving us and more importantly our little man. Happy Birthday week little guy!
Here are some pictures of the boy…pre and post haircut. There are photos of his first trip to the petting zoo, him playing ball, being silly with crazy hair, getting his haircut, and opening some of his birthday presents sent from his Papa Kelly and Nina. That is right folks…this little boy is about to turn ONE! Stay tuned to find out what Co’s first Easter is like.
Mo is having his last eye surgery Thursday, January 22, 2009. It is exciting and frightening all at the same time. It will be fabulous to have this part of our life over. We started this process on June 14, 2007 so it has been a long road…six surgeries in a year and a half. However, poor Mo is having to gear up to go through this very painful process (again). This is the first surgery that Co has been a part of the world. I (Jo) am a lot more nervous than I think Mo is about how we are going to handle Co with Mo’s recovery. Mo works from home so he is with Co all the time. I have to figure out how to take care of Mo, take care of Co, take care of the furry family, and do my job. We have had a wonderful support system through it all and we are going to need it more than ever. We truly feel blessed. My prayer is that this will be a fast recovery and that this will be as low impact as possible. Here we go!
We went to our monthly “Family Dinner” it is something that we started with our friends last fall. We realized that we see less and less of our friends…people that we once spent time with every week if not every day. We meet once a month and we rotate houses and come together to talk, to eat, and to share. These are friends that I (Jo) went to college with and they have become friends to our entire family…they are indeed our family. They are the ones we call when we have joys or when we have sorrows. They were in our wedding and there when our son was born. We noticed that because of all our busy lives we didn’t see each other the way that we should. We felt like we didn’t know their kids the way we should and we knew that we certainly wanted them to know Co. So we no longer meet in bars and stay out late like we did in college, we are together for shorter periods of time, most of us with children, but we are touching base with people that help make us who we are. It is fabulous.
Co has a lot of first this trip…his first airplane ride, his first time to Arkansassy, his first time to meet a lot of his family (namely his Papa Kelly and Nina-a set of his grandparents), his first Thanksgiving, his first snow…a lot of firsts! It has been a tiring trip, we have been running all around so people can see our cute kid. It is nice for this side of our family to meet and spend time with this little guy…who doesn’t love Co? I (Jo) think the best part of the trip is hanging out with my boys Mo and Co. It is going to be hard going back to work after spending day in and day out with the family. During this time when we are thinking about what we are thankful about…I am thankful for this time together and for this time back home in Arkansas. Thanks Mom for making this possible. Thanks Mo and Co for the adventure!
We haven’t been blogging the way we used to so I thought I would give an update on the family:
Mo just finished up a freelance job. Hopefully he will have another one soon. He teaches at PSU two nights a week. Mark-o is doing okay health-wise. He officially has been diagnosed with TMJ. He has had a cold and a bad cough. Mo’s eye is doing okay…just the same. He and Co are having a good time at home. Mo has been busy doing little tasks around the home. Hopefully some day we will get this house in order.
Jo is doing good. Work is busy but awesome. We have a new Senior Minister and so far so good. I am loving being a mom and spending time with Co. Even though sometimes it is overwhelming and tiring. Health-wise everything is fine. I need to go to the chiropractor since I am out of whack due to our giant baby. I am also trying to get my body in check post baby. Everything is great…I feel like I am always on the go but nothing gets done. Who cares…I am with the people I love.
Co is doing fabulous. He has three teeth…two bottom teech and one weird snaggle tooth on the top side of his mouth…I think it is a canine toorh. He laughs all the time and talks even more…he moves his mouth like a crazy little old man…a lot of gumming. Co has a funny laugh that he does that shows his funny tooth and it isn’t the cutest laugh for those don’t love him…he snorts and looks silly. He loves to stand and he wants you to help him walk. He is busy non-stop. He is absolutely perfect…a lovable, funny, little cuddle boy.
Daisy, Kikio, & Betty all the animals are doing well. Daisy (the dog) and Co are best friends. They adore each other. Betty (the cat) is starting to really love Co too. Kikio (the other cat) and Betty hate each other. I will be glad when we all can get along…we are getting there.
Home and Car both are changing up. We are trying to sell the Subaru. We purchased an Explorer from Mo’s sister and brother in law. We needed a larger car and this is what we are doing for now. The house is doing good. We are switching Co’s room with the home office. We are saving to get the home office up and running “for real.” Everything is going good.
So that is us. We will try to be better about sharing our world.
